One way to do this is to ask your clients for a few names (particularly when you’ve just exceeded their expectations on a big project). They can certainly appreciate and respect your need to grow. An easy way to ask… “We’re updating our mailing list. Who do you know that we might want to throw on there?”
You want to make it as easy as possible for them to help. Don’t make them provide all the contact info (particularly if they have to go hunting around for it.). A simple name and company would be fine. You can get the rest elsewhere….
